A woman stands outside Madison Square Garden’s (MSG) 7th avenue entrance, facing a bustling intersection in midtown Manhattan. Two gigantic pillars from the ceiling seem like an opening into the realities of a monotonous, fast-paced city life. She looks through the pillars and finds a foreign structure - the gate of a traditional Korean palace. At the same time, a dragon breaks free from the ceiling, revealing the dark, blurry space beneath.

She stares at the other woman in a red hanbok (traditional Korean costume), wanting to climb over the fence, but her braids hold her back from joining the other woman.

The NYC landscape and the woman are intentionally black and white to show how deeply we are interconnected with our environments and the expectations of perfectionism or catering to our needs. The gate and dragon in color also suggest a break from the plethora of technology, artificial information and ask us to reflect on our past.

The dragon shatters the building and eventually creates cracks in the pillars suggesting positive signs of change, yet the cracks reveal a hollow area beneath suggesting uncertainty in what’s to come.
