About the Artist

Eric Ma

My practice centers on the shifting role of images—from passive representation to active mechanisms shaping space, reality and post-human worlds. Working across installation, video, painting, game design, visual communication and traditional art, I explore the constant oscillation between striated and smooth spaces: coded rules, algorithms and structures, versus the fluid, unbounded potential of visual creation. Through Sugarfall, Mr. Tomato and Feast of Excess, I unpack how images generate emotional, ethical and social spaces while challenging fixed narratives. In game and poster design, I examine how images precede and construct virtual and interface realities. My traditional artworks dialogue with historical imaging systems, proving imaging persists even when visual authority fractures. This exhibition poses my core inquiry: in an era of generative AI and computer vision, how do fractured, continuous acts of imaging redefine our understanding of reality?
