About the Artist

Yifei Zhou

I am a designer working at the intersection of spatial experience, interaction, and human-centered systems. My work explores how abstract and often overlooked aspects of life can be translated into tangible, understandable experiences through design. In this project, I focus on end-of-life decision-making, a process that is typically rushed, emotionally charged, and handled by others. Rather than treating it as a fixed procedure, I reframe it as a space for individual understanding and choice. By using virtual reality, I construct a non-linear spatial system where users can explore, compare, and define their preferences in a controlled and reflective environment. I am interested in how space can function not only as a container, but as a medium for thinking. Through simplified geometry, soft visual language, and layered interaction, I aim to create environments that reduce pressure and support clarity. My approach emphasizes accessibility, emotional balance, and the transformation of complex decisions into experiential processes. Ultimately, my work seeks to shift design from guiding actions to supporting understanding, allowing individuals to engage with difficult topics in a more conscious and personal way.
