Indonesian Heritage Agency (IHA) is a government-owned institution that serves as the parent management organization for all the national museums in Indonesia, which were previously operating independently. The presence of IHA requires coexistence with each museum’s existing branding, making this not just a branding project, but a systemic transformation that accommodates and refreshes all the existing presumptions that were associated with their former identities. To represent Indonesia’s vast range of cultural heritage, we draw inspiration from prehistoric relics, which symbolize the very beginning of the country’s rich diversity today. The patina bronze color serves as the primary color of this organization, reflecting the beauty of aging artifacts. We try to translate Indonesia’s rich heritage into a timeless yet relevant adaptation. The identity is designed to be dynamic and adaptable across museums with various stories and collections. By integrating into each institution, it brings a sense of renewal while maintaining the unique character already in place. This approach also reflects the Indonesian government’s broader commitment to improving how museums are managed and experienced. Our studio aimed to make museums more sophisticated in presentation, better maintained in practice, and more relatable to the public, while still carrying what makes them special: their history and modern spirit that continues to hold value over time.
