Fractured Redemption

2020

Medium:

Mixed media (pharmaceuticals, print, acrylic)

Dimension:

23.2 x 31.5 inches

This artwork combines real pharmaceuticals with visual elements related to COVID-19, exploring human fragility and systemic responses during the global pandemic. The left half presents a visual narrative of masks, protective gear, and pandemic-related keywords, symbolizing society’s tension and desire for control. In contrast, the right half, densely packed with pills, represents the hope offered by modern medicine while simultaneously reflecting the industrial and consumerist aspects of pharmaceuticals. This piece questions humanity’s struggle in the imbalance between industrial civilization and nature. It highlights our dependence on medical advancements for survival while perpetuating environmental and societal instability. Through the interplay of fragmentation and reconstruction, the artwork invites reflection on the complex relationships between technology, healthcare, humanity, and ecology, challenging us to envision a future less constrained by this dependence.

This artwork merges reality and imagination, using the visual language of food to examine the remnants of human civilization. A semi-transparent plate juxtaposes illustrations of baked goods with aerospace engineering elements, symbolizing the peak of industrial achievements and their eventual decay. When humans are no longer the sole architects of space, how will AI and automation shape our future? Once a symbol of daily life and warmth, food here becomes a relic of history. This work contemplates the transformation of industrial marvels into cosmic dust, prompting reflection on the landscapes of our future existence.
