Real-Eyes Realize Reality responds to the fractured narrative between perceived ecological balance and industrialisation-led ecological collapse. The spectator is seated in a cinema to view the world through glasses that project an idyllic image—luscious forests, shimmering water, and radiant cities—while the backdrop presents the grim reality: smog-filled skies, rivers choked with trash, and dilapidated infrastructure. The artwork laments selective perception in society, where nostalgia and technological convenience paint over the impact of ecological deterioration. This multimedia piece uses reclaimed material—crumpled trash, worn clothing, plastic straws—to build a haptic, experiential environment that juxtaposes manufactured comfort against ecological degradation. The theatre is reconfigured as a metaphor for public disconnection, a place where society consumes fabricated realities and shifts away the fractures that accompany industrialization."Real-Eyes Realize Reality" questions the boundaries of the posthuman metropolis, as human centrality is displaced by regimes of denial and convenience. It glances back over the legacy of industrialization, in which both synthetic prosperity and environmental fracture are discerned. I ask here the following questions: What happens if we shut our eyes? And what futures can be found if we finally remove the glasses?
