Flow is a dynamic, abstract visualization of iconic colors found in traditional Chinese arts, ranging from fabric patterns and religious frescoes to landscape paintings and jewelry crafts. People are often captivated by their ancestors' craftsmanship, not only for its artistic brilliance but also for the emotional connection that comes from discovering and witnessing their origins. Although one may not have been present during the ancient dynasties, ancient art often evokes a deep sense of nostalgia.
In Flow, Luo removes all artistic forms to bring the iconic colors to the forefront, raising the question of whether one can still recognize traditional Chinese art solely through its colors. This approach prompts viewers to perceive these familiar colors on their own, evoking a distant sense of nostalgia, like a voice softly echoing within, calling for home and awakening deep memories.
The visual is created using data visualization, manipulating a grid of points to form ever-changing waves that meet and diverge. This form hints at the transformative nature of art, transcending time and generations as it evolves into new forms.
